美國務院官員對民進黨2016總統參選人蔡英文訪美表示，感謝蔡英文到訪，雙方在許多議題上，進行「有建設性的意見交換」（constructive exchange）。對於美方「定調」，蔡英文以「感受各方友善態度」回應。
蔡表示，這次行程妥善安排，非常感謝美方的善意，另與行政部門、國會、智庫等很多朋友交換意見，內容很豐富、很有意義。她說，「總和來講，這次意見交換，是一個好的過程。」她並指，「感受到討論過程中各方友善的態度。」
蔡說，台灣跟美國關係歷來都是密切的，也希望將來持續保持好的溝通，讓雙方合作深化。
前副總統呂秀蓮對此也表肯定，她出席一場募款餐會時表示，「一樣的蔡英文，不一樣的美國」。她說，4年前美中關係親密，如今美中陷入緊張、對峙局面，兩強都在拉攏台灣，台灣更應自我定位，用和平中立、東方瑞士之姿，遊走世界各國。
呂秀蓮說，蔡英文4年前訪美受挫，4年後她備受美方禮遇，感謝美國再度重視台灣。
